What is the FIELD Project?
FIELD is an acronym that highlights Faithful Innovation and the three steps that Pope Francis envisions for synodality–Encountering, Listening, and Discerning. It calls to mind the way Jesus urged his followers always to be on mission, to go out into the field to announce the Good News. Inspired by Pope Francis’ vision of the Church as a field hospital, this project seeks to engage in ministry that first attends to peoples’ needs. The purpose of this project is to collaborate with ministry leaders to design a renewed way of being Church marked by synodality, or journeying together on the walk of faith. That is, it engages young adults, listens to them, and discerns with them pastoral responses. We hope to help parishes become thriving spaces in support of young adults.
